In keeping with the playful tone of the performance art exhibition titled KAZOO! (the proper-name of a type of kids’ party noise-maker), I created an interactive, face-in-hole artwork. Participants were invited to put their heads through a hole in a life size photograph of me, and have their photo taken. A 'face in hole' photo is a humorous image where a person's face is inserted into a cut-out or frame of a character or scene, creating a funny or entertaining effect. In a ‘meta’ move, I chose an image of me during a performance artwork on the set of eGoli, the South African television soap-opera, and that was exhibited at the Premises Gallery earlier the same year. I emailed the participants their photos.
